Victoria Carter Scholarship Criteria
The Angie Kennedy Educational Foundation is offering a scholarship in loving memory of Ms. Victoria T’nya-Ann Carter. Victoria was a smart student with a GPA of 3.59 while enrolled at East Carolina University as a Business Communications, Marketing and Public Relations major. Her intent was to attend Yale Law School or Campbell University to pursue entertainment law. However she was not just a student. Victoria worked at Harris Teeter, the East Carolina University school newspaper, and at the East Carolinian Marketing Department working for Expression Magazine—a school magazine where she wrote poetry.
She participated in numerous extracurricular activities including volunteering for the organization Voices for Victims as the organization’s secretary; president of the ICON Modeling Troupe; and working on the crisis hotline at The REAL Crisis Intervention Center. She was a member of the Black Student Union and a part of Word of Mouth, a poetry organization. She was one of the founding members of Emerging New Talent (ENT), an organization that provides an open mic night for talented individuals to showcase their artistic expression.
Victoria was inducted into the Gamma Beta Phi Society in April 2010 and The Golden Key Society. In addition to her schooling and volunteering, she was very spiritual. She would read her Bible daily and host studies in her dorm room for others. Overall, she was involved in many wonderful things and was a blessing to those who interacted with her. Victoria valued helping others to reach their full potential. We carry on her legacy by providing a scholarship in her name so that those who desire to further their educational training, but lack the funds to do so can reach their full potential.
