2017 Recipients
Alyssa Smith will pursue a degree in Exercise Science at St. Augustine’s University during the 2017-2018 academic year. She was a member of the National Honor Society throughout her high school career, the Helen Shefffield Society, and the Girl Scouts. She ultimately desires to become a physical therapist. Alyssa Smith was awarded the Angie Kennedy Educational Foundation Scholarship for her achievements.

Asha Jalini Simpson will pursue a degree in Exercise Science from Jacksonville State University during the 2017-2018 academic year. She received the Senior Athlete award, the highest GPA in 2017, and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship. She volunteered at the Mabry Cancer Center at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC. After Asha graduates from college, she wants to specialize in physical therapy to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy and open her own physical therapy practice for professional athletes recovery. Asha Simpson was awarded the Victoria Carter Memorial Scholarship for her achievements.

Jordan Thomas Williams will pursue a degree in Computer Engineering at Morehouse College during the 2017-2018 academic year. Throughout high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and remained on the A/B honor roll. After graduating from Morehouse College, Mr. Williams plans to obtain a broader understanding of the world by traveling. Ultimately, he plans to become a professional snowboarder. Jordan Williams was awarded the Angie Kennedy Educational Foundation Scholarship for his achievements.

Justin Jermain Wilson will pursue a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Journalism at Coastal Carolina University during the 2017-2018 academic year. Mr. Wilson received second place twice in the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) state competition, was inducted into the Junior and National Honor Society, and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree, he intends to earn a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina – Aiken. Ultimately, he plans to work with professional sports teams until he starts a physical therapy practice. Justin Wilson was awarded the Angie Kennedy Educational Foundation Scholarship for his achievements.

Shani Denise McMillan will pursue a degree in English at the University of South Carolina – Columbia. She received a presidential service award through Jack and Jill of America, Inc., was inducted into the National Honor Society, and was a consecutive honor roll student throughout high school. After graduating, she plans to complete an internship and write as well as publish her own work. Shani McMillan was awarded the Angie Kennedy Educational Foundation Scholarship for her achievements.

Tillmon Milton Ancrum, II will pursue a degree in Marine Science with a minor in Graphic Design at Coastal Carolina University during the 2017-2018 school year. He was accepted into the Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He graduated in the top of his high school class and in 2016 he participated in Palmetto Boy’s State. In the future, he plans to pursue graduate degrees in marine ecology to help research and find ways to clean up polluted areas of coastal waters. He plans to work for and with governmental agencies like the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Tillmon Ancrum was awarded the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Class of 1979 Scholarship for his achievements.
